Does Dry Brushing Eliminate Cellulite?

September 17, 2018

While it might not feel as wonderful or relaxing as a massage, dry brushing has similar detoxing effects on the body that a massage does. The light pressure against your skin and the direction in which you brush helps move lymph fluid into the lymph nodes to eliminate waste. While your body has the ability to do this on its own, dry brushing speeds up the process while it boosts circulation by delivering oxygenated blood to the skin and other organs, which, in turn, helps improve their overall function. Because dry brushing helps eliminate toxins, many believe that it can smooth and eliminate unsightly lumps and bumps known as cellulite. One contributing factor to cellulite is the presence of stagnant toxins that break down connective tissue. The idea is that dry brushing helps remove these stagnant toxins.

However, there is no conclusive scientific evidence that dry brushing can permanently reduce cellulite, moreover, the results tend to be more of a short-lived benefit which could be attributed to temporarily plumping and swelling the skin which would hide the dimples. Best results are often seen if you do it in the morning, because the brushing energizes and stimulates the body. The strokes should be long and move upward, starting at your feed and working up the legs one at a time. Follow the legs by doing your midsection, both front and back, and finish with your arms by brushing towards your armpits. Dry brushes should have firm bristles, vegetable derived of course, and a long handle to make it easier to get harder to reach areas.

Your skin should immediately feel softer and smoother after just one session. While it won’t cure or permanently eliminate unsightly cellulite, it will exfoliate and smooth your skin. The exfoliation may also help clear up troublesome acne spots. At the very least, you’re in for a great exfoliation session, at the very best, you’ll have soft, glowing skin. So why not give It a try?
